Refining Vegetable Oils: Chemical and Physical Refining, PMC
Nowadays, there is a global pressure by both consumers and food industries regarding refined oil quality to meet the established specifications for food safety [16, 17]. The oil must be odourless and rather neutral in taste, limpid, and colourless, and it must be free of contaminants .
Masterol Foods is a diverse Australian supplier of vegetable oils and vegetable oil downstream products. We supply refined and deodorized Canola, Sunflower and Cottonseed Oils, and other specialty vegetable oils including Olive and Coconut Oils.

A Review on Vegetable Oil Refining: Process, Advances
Nowadays, consumer food choices are driven by health awareness and sustainability concerns. As vegetable oil is an important component of the human diet, the source and the processing play an important role in consumer acceptability. To remove impurities that affect the color, palatability, stability, and safety of oil, crude vegetable oil must be refined. This review highlights the processes

The refining process removes as well as reduces the impurities present in the crude oil. Vegetable oil refining technology offers sophisticated equipment. However, the sophisticated equipment is not capable of producing high quality refined oil unless the starting crude oil is of good quality.

Sunflower Oil Production Line
The oil is extracted directly from the sunflower seeds by a screw type oil press machine. Sunflower seeds are cold-pressed (or hot pressed) at a certain temperatures, and the protein-rich cake that remains after the seeds are processed into oil is used as animal feed, retaining 99% of the nutrients in sunflower oil without the use of chemical solvents.
Furthermore, refined vegetable oils in light colors are more favored by consumers than those in dark colors, as light colors are considered to be associated with freshness. Therefore, the dark color of refined vegetable oils resulting from color reversion is related to poor quality and low acceptability for consumers [4,5].
