Recovering, Recycling, and Reclaiming of Refrigerants | US EPA
EPA regulations (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F) under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act include reclamation, recovery, and restrictions and requirements of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. The definitions of recover, recycle, and reclaim are copied below for reference:
H&H Oil also provides its customers with oil filter recycling services. Like our used oil services, we manage this material from start to finish. Once our technician removes filters from your facility, they will be transported to our filter recycling operations, where residual used oil will be captured.

Managing, Reusing, and Recycling Used Oil | US EPA
If you are one of the many people who change their own motor oil, you too need to know how to properly manage the used oil. After all, used oil from one oil change can contaminate one million gallons of fresh water — a years’ supply for 50 people! When handling used oil, be sure to take these key points into consideration: Used motor oil is
Used cooking oil (UCO) is a valuable commodity, worth thousands of dollars in annual rebates paid by cooking oil recyclers. UCO collection is also among the dirtiest jobs in the kitchen. We provide multiple ways to cleanly and safely collect and store UCO until it’s time for collection by a recycling agent.

- What is used oil reprocessing & reclamation?
- The products of used oil reprocessing and reclamation are lubricating fluids with low quality requirements and heating and fuel oils, respectively, while re-refining of the used oil leads to production of valuable base oils with quality comparable with virgin base oils. The principle of rerefining waste oils utilizes the following four steps:
- What is used oil recycling?
- Recycling of used oil relates to passing it through a cycle of changes or treatment which provides products or materials for reuse. Recycling usually employs one or more of the three methods for commercial regeneration of waste oils: reclaiming (or reconditioning), reprocessing, or re-refining.
- Can used oil be reclaimed?
- Majority of industrial oils that are collected and kept separate from other non-compatible used oil product can be reclaimed and brought back to close to original condition. Examples include hydraulic, gear, drawing, heat treating, quench, and cutting oils. Automotive used oils cannot be reclaimed. They have to be re-refined.
- How to reclaim crude oil?
- Among these methods, reclaiming by heating and filtration, re-refining by introducing waste oil into crude oil refining streams, recycling by acid/clay treatment, thin film evaporation/clay contact finishing, thin film evaporation / hydrotreats finishing, etc., are now employed in different countries worldwide (Shakirullah et al. 2006).
- What type of oil can be recycled?
- Recycled base oils KS100, KS150, and KS200 are high-quality products. Used oil can also be recycled using ethane extraction processing or hydrocarbon solvents such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), condensate, and stabilized condensate .
- What should be included in a used oil recycling program?
- Promoting any used oil recycling program should include (i) advice on how to manage collected used oil properly, (ii) information about the importance of collecting used oil, and (iii) explanation of how to take advantage of a given program.
