Plan for Gwadar oil city likely to be finalised by year-end
The planning process for the establishment of the largest oil city in Gwadar is expected to conclude before the end of the year. According to the people familiar with the matter, the proposed mega oil city will be developed at an area of 80,000 acres in Gwadar district for the refining and processing of petroleum products mainly imported from the Gulf region for local and regional needs.
Once built, the diesel plant is to have a production capacity of 15,000 barrels a day, or about one billion litres annually. The canola facility is expected to produce 450,000 tonnes of oil.

Planned oil refinery in Gwadar to open new chapter of development
BEIJING, Nov 17 (APP): Gwadar, the engine room of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is set to be the recipient of a $4.5 billion oil refinery as a Chinese firm has laid down a plan to build an oil refinery with an annual processing capacity of 8 million tons, according to the press release of the firm, the East Sea Group.
To facilitate the Saudi investment in refining, the government has recently passed a new policy under which a new deep conversion oil refinery of a minimum of 300,000 bpd achieving financial close of the project within five years shall be eligible for a customs duty of 7.5 per cent for 25 years on petrol and diesel of all grades produced effective from the date of commissioning of the refinery.
