Palm Oil Magazine, Apical Doubled Refinery Capacity
Also Read: PEMA Announces Plans for Palm Oil Refinery and Port Infrastructure Development. The additional refinery capacity, expected to produce up to 3,500 metric tons (MT) of crude palm oil (CPO) per day, and the fractionation plant’s capacity of up to 3,000 MT per day, are crucial for Apical and the Padang region.
Until late 1970's, both crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel were directly exported, because there was no palm oil refinery and palm kernel crushing plant in Indonesia. By 1980's refining and fractionation plants were installed to produce refined, bleached and deodorized palm oil olein (RBD olein) and RBD stearin from CPO.
