Small Refineries and Oil Field Processors: Opportunities
Small business opportunities in refining may strongly depend on a number of factors, including regional demand for refined products, available crude oil supplies, and unique regional environmental regulations, among others. A “small business” in the oil refining business is defined differently in different statutes.
Cisco oil and gas solutions make upstream, midstream and downstream operations safe, reliable, efficient, and secure. Process control. Industrial automation in

The Wireless Refinery, Cisco Blogs
Because Wifi is significantly affected by RF noise and large metal objects, the reliability of wifi in a refinery can be unpredictable and coverage can be expensive. These two requirements of coverage and reliability start to push refinery operators toward other wireless technologies and this is what we’ll discuss next.

2.2: The process of crude oil refining, Engineering LibreTexts
The first process is known as distillation. In this process, crude oil is heated and fed into a distillation column. A schematic of the distillation column is shown in \(Figure \text { } 2.2\). As the temperature of the crude oil in the distillation column rises, the crude oil separates itself into different components, called “fractions.”
The Cisco oil and gas process control and refinery solution provides a converged, standards-based architecture for supporting these use cases. Plant and Field Operations Enable digital operations by connecting machines, sensors, and other OT systems with secure and standards-based industrial wired and wireless networks.

Petroleum Processing and Refineries | SpringerLink
Products from the gas plants become refinery fuel gas, which contains H 2, N 2, ethane, and/or ethylene; LPG—liquid petroleum gas, which contains mostly propane with limited amounts of butanes; and one or more refinery olefin streams. Refinery fuel gas is burned to supply process heat. LPG can be sold as-is or fractionated to purify the propane.
To make gasoline, refinery technicians carefully combine a variety of streams from the processing units. Octane level, vapor pressure ratings, and other special considerations determine the gasoline blend. Storage. Both incoming crude oil and the outgoing final products are stored temporarily in large tanks on a tank farm near the refinery.
