Production of biodiesel from soybean oil biomass as
Production of biodiesel from soybean oil has been exclusively produced by many researchers (Singh and Singh, 2010; Santos et al., 2009; Xie and Huang, 2006).

Improved Biodiesel Production from Soybean Oil Using
The efficient conversion of low-grade acidic oils to biodiesel is still a great challenge due primarily to the presented free fatty acids (FFAs) and moisture that significantly activate the used catalysts. In this premise, the acidic aluminosilicates (AAS) were employed as catalyst supports for loading of molybdenum and zirconium metals to synthesize the solid acid catalysts of molybdenum and

Energy Life-Cycle Assessment of Soybean Biodiesel, NESCAUM
The model used in this study was designed to represent a processing facility that combines a soybean processing plant with a biodiesel conversion unit producing 9.8 million gallons of biodiesel, 151,515 tons of soybean meal, 9,000 tons of soybean hulls, and 4,380 tons of crude glycerin.
The theoretical minimum distance to supply soybeans for a 100 million gallon/year oil production plant located at the center of a square grid assuming only one third of the area planted with

Fuel from the Field: Soybean Oil and its Energy Uses
Both biodiesel and renewable diesel are commonly derived from soybean oil and the use of soybean oil for biofuel is only expected to grow in the coming years, both in terms of share of soybean oil by use case, as well as production by volume. The Soybean Oil futures contract can provide exposure to the dynamic and growing biofuel landscape.
The overall goal of this work is to design and optimize a biodiesel production process from soybean oil. To achieve this goal, several inter-connected activities were undertaken. First, an initial flowsheet for the process was synthesized. The performance of this flowsheet along with the key design and operating criteria were identified by conducting computer-aided simulation using ASPEN Plus

Biodiesel Production from Waste Oils: A South African Outlook
Biodiesel production is largely determined by the cost of the feedstock (>70%) and this review focuses on the use of waste oil resources as biodiesel feedstock with a special focus on waste
Biodiesel is an alternative, renewable and sustainable source of energy that has become more attractive recently due to environmental concern and diminishing petroleum reserves.
- Which seeds are suitable for biodiesel production in South Africa?
- Sunflower seeds show a decent oil yield per hectare and are currently the main oilseed produced in South Africa which makes it the primary candidate for commercial biodiesel production. Soybeans have a lower oil yield per hectare but are also produced on large enough scale to be considered for biodiesel production.
- Would commercial biodiesel production create a steady market for oilseeds in South Africa?
- Commercial biodiesel production would create a steady market for oilseeds in South Africa. This steady market would lower the risk involved for the farmer signing future contracts on their oilseeds with biodiesel producers.
- Is soybean a biodiesel?
- Soybeans have a lower oil yield per hectare but are also produced on large enough scale to be considered for biodiesel production. Based on the facts above, the cost of biodiesel production is examined for the following oilseeds: Sunflower seeds, soybeans and canola.
- Should South Africa focus on biodiesel production?
- In summary, South Africa should rather focus on a total and balanced increase of oilseed production. Not only focusing on a single oilseed but rather increasing the production of all the major oilseeds. Also seen from the results is that biodiesel would mainly be produced from sunflower seeds and soybeans on a large scale.
- Is soybean oil a feedstock for biodiesel?
- Soybean oil is currently a major feedstock for biodiesel production. The most common method of biodiesel production involves reacting vegetable oils or animal fats with methanol or ethanol in the presence of sodium hydroxide.
- Is anhydrous production of biodiesel from soybean oil and methanol an original work?
- We warrant that the article Anhydrous Production of Biodiesel from Soybean Oil and Methanol, Catalyzed by Calcium Oxide in a Recycle Reactor submited to South African Journal of Chemical Engineering is the Authors' original work. We warrant that the article has not received prior publication and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
