Tire Recycling: The Simplest Way to Recycle Used Tires
A significant portion of the scrap tire material is used to produce tire-derived fuel. This fuel can produce the same amount of energy as oil and even 25% more energy than coal. The ash residues from the TDF process may contain lower heavy metals content, making it a cleaner alternative to some coals. 2. Civil Engineering Projects
In states where there are no tire fees, tire dealers, junk yards, etc. may charge customers for disposal (or may include the cost in the price of the tires purchased). In most states, the fees collected are dedicated to tire recycling and scrap tire cleanup, however, some states may use these funds for scrap tire management and market development.

Recycling of Scrap Tires, ResearchGate
It is concluded that it is possible to use tyre pyrolysis oil in diesel engines as an alternate fuel in the future. View. Show abstract. Kurt Reschner, "Scrap Tire Recycling; A Summary of
From a 20-pound (9.1 kg) tire, seven pounds (3.18 kg) of carbon black and two pounds (0.91 kg) of steel are recovered. The remainder of the tire (oil and hydrocarbon gases) can be reused in the production of electricity or sold for use in other applications. The process yields almost 100 percent reuse and recycling of the scrap tire feed.

A look at scrap tyre recycling in South Africa
Each country or region has its own issues in dealing with millions of end-of-life tyres that are either being disposed of in landfills or illegally dumped, with only small amounts being recycled. Swaliha Shanavas speaks to industry experts in South Africa to understand the state of the tyre recycling industry, regulatory issues, key challenges, current trends and developments in the sector
SA Tyre Recyclers was formed in late 2005 in order to establish South Africa's newest and most up to date tyre recycling facility at Atlantis, Cape Town, SA. As well as operating the most modern tyre recycling facility in South Africa, SA Tyre Recyclers works closely with local authorities and government bodies looking at recycling issues and

Piling on the pressure to recycle mining tyres
In unison, the supply chain that includes Ascenso, Bearcat, Bridgestone Mining Solutions, Goodyear and Yokohama, in addition to the already mentioned Kal Tire and Michelin, has joined the association’s voluntary Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme, which applies a levy based on the type of tyre and rim size, capped at a maximum of A$50 per tyre.
State of tyre recycling in South Africa; key issues “The tyre recycling industry is in disarray as lack of clear, focused legislations that guide the handling, disposal and processing of waste tyres remain challenging. The government collects a tyre tax, but has failed to implement a sustainable recycling model,” says XTyre CEO. They have

A Review on Material and Energy Recovery from Waste Tyres
The oil from waste tyres is similar to No. 6 oil which is the lowest grade of fuel oil as it is a thick, black tar-like liquid [15]. This oil could be used as liquid fuel for industrial boilers, furnaces and power plants after further refining as it is chemically complex.
The oil is widely used as industrial fuel to substitute furnace oil or industrial diesel. It can be also called tire pyrolysis oil, crude TPO, tire pyrolytic oil, etc. Tire Pyrolysis Oil Usage. In the waste tyre pyrolysis process, we can finally get waste tire pyrolysis oil and pyrolysis carbon black.
