Highly Digestible Palm Kernel Cake (PKC) for Animal Feed
The use of palm kernel cake (PKC) in the poultry feed is limited due to the higher than allowed content of fibrous material in the meal contributed mainly by the shell and dirt which exceeds 6%.
Hydrogenated palm kernel oil is suitable for chocolate-type couvertures for biscuits and sugar confectionery, and for biscuit cream fillings. Hydrogenated palm kernel oil is also used to replace butterfat in filled milk, coffee creamers, and imitation cream. The higher-melting-point grades tend to leave a waxy residue on the palate.

[PDF] Use of palm kernel cake and oil palm by-products
Compound feed is a mixture of feed ingredients obtained from various sources. A feed ingredient is only a constituent of a compound feed and if used as the sole ration fed, has to be enriched further. The composition of a compound feed is determined by three main criteria, i.e. price, nutritional composition and the animal characteristics. The nutritional composition of a compound feed varies
P alm Kernel Cake (PKC) is a by-product of palm kernel oil (PKO) production. PKC production in Indonesia approximately reached 4.16 million tons in 2021 ( BPS, 202 3 ). Mechanical pressing leaves produced a large amount of oil (around 9.6%), which causes the rapid rancidity of PKC due to the relatively high level of fat oxidation.

Palm oil and palm kernel oil are the two main marketable products obtained from African oil palm, representing 22% and 4%–6% of the fresh-fruit bunch weight, respectively (Boateng et al., 2008). Several by-products (fronds, trunks, press fiber, empty fruit bunches, kernel cake, kernel shells, and mill effluent) are generated from oil

Comprehensive utilization of palm kernel cake for producing
Palm kernel cake (PKC) is an agricultural waste derived from palm kernel oil manufacturing, and its production is increasing year by year. It is very urgent to process this agricultural waste in
Nutritional Value of Palm Kernel Cake. PKC, or Palm Kernel Cake, is a highly nutritious ingredient that plays a crucial role in promoting the overall health and development of animals. With its abundance of essential nutrients, including protein, fiber, and energy, PKC has become a staple in livestock feed formulations.
