The Solvent Extraction plant can’t be processed with flakes due to its high oil content. The Oil content are to handled with expander with squeezo matic arrangement. Where 20 % of the oil will be drained and collets containing 25% – 28% oil will be transferred for extraction. The collets is with 35% more porosity than the flakes.
Improving Oil Extraction from Canola Seeds by Conventional
Canola seeds are one of the most important sources of edible vegetable oils globally. Crude canola oil is industrially extracted from canola seeds by expeller-pressing of heat-preconditioned flaked seeds. The residual oil in the pressed “canola cake” is recovered by solvent extraction using hexane. However, hexane extraction may pose adverse safety and environmental impacts compared to

Canola Oil: Where It's From and How It's Made?, Leafy Oils
The first phase of commercial oil extraction crushes and presses the seed to mechanically remove around 32-35% of the available oil. Inside crushing plants, the canola seed passes through rollers to flatten it into thin flakes. This increases the surface area of the flake to maximize oil extraction.
For canola – one of Canada’s most widely grown crops – it starts with a good squeeze. As the canola plant matures, its yellow flowers develop into pods, containing tiny black seeds. Similar to other plant-based oils, canola oil is made by crushing canola seeds. There are two main methods of crushing canola.
Characterization of canola oil extracted by different methods
The third type of canola oil samples were taken from eight commercial canola brands purchased from the local markets of Islamabad, Pakistan. Three types of canola oil samples including cold pressed, chemically extracted and eight commercial brands, are displayed in Fig 2 for a nice visual comparison. Fig 2.
