Eastern Refinery reaches full capacity in refining crude oil
The lone state run fuel oil refinery was commissioned in 1968 with an annual refining capacity of 15 lakh tons. Engineer Md Lokman, managing director of Eastern Refinery Ltd, said "It has been possible to achieve 100% of the targets with well thought out planning and efficient management, and the dedicated and relentless efforts of officers and workers at all levels of the company.
Bangladesh is used to using lighter vessels to transfer imported crude oil from mother vessels to refineries, which usually takes almost 12 days and costs extra money in freight charges. "With the pipeline arrangements, the time can be brought down to only three days, and costs can be cut substantially," added Sharif Hasnat.

Modular Refineries | Amerisource Energy
A modular refinery is a prefabricated processing plant designed to distill crude oil into naphtha, kerosene, diesel, residual fuel oil, and off-gas using a crude distillation unit (CDU). These initial petroleum products could be further treated using secondary process equipment (hydrotreating and reforming units) to produce high-octane gasoline

New refinery planned to navigate oil crisis | The Financial
The ERL unit was set up with a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes way back in 1968. After this lone plant, there has been no refinery set up although Bangladesh's fuel-oil demand has mounted. Currently, Bangladesh's annual oil demand is around 9.5 million tonnes, including around 1.50 million tonnes of crude oil.
Once implemented, the new refinery could help the country save $220 million every year, trebling the country's. crude oil refining capacity to 4.5 million tonnes from the existing 1.5 million tonnes per year. Currently Bangladesh imports around 6.50 million tonnes of crude and refined petroleum products a year to meet the local demand.
