PHYSICAL REFINING OF SUNFLOWER OIL
Physical refining has several advantages compared to the classical chemical one. This process is more economical (improved yield, lower investment cost, less chemicals used) environmental friendly process (no soapstock to be treated, splitted) but more sensitive to the crude oil quality. Physical refining of sunflower oil is discussed in details.
It adopts vacuum system to remove the impurities and color pigments from the crude palm oil and crude palm kernel oil. Deodourising process; The palm oil and palm kernel oil are steamed at a temperature of 240°C to 260°C to get away the odors and tastes, and then they are cooled into room temperature (about 55°C) for further use.

Second Stage of Vegetable Oil Refining Process Neutralization or simply Neutralizing is the second process in the vegetable oil refining which commences after degumming completion. The feedstock is taken into the Neutralizers where the heating temperature range is kept at 55 C to 70 C depending on the quality of crude oil.

- To produce refined palm oil (RPO), the objectionable impurities in the CPO are removed to obtain the required levels using two main methods: chemical or alkali refining and physical refining methods. Either of these is followed by fractionation as a final purification process to separate the oil into stearin and olein components.
